Arunachal Pradesh have lots of potential for development of sports in state, keeping this mind Arunachal Olympic Association (AOA) today demanded creation of infrastructure, coach and trainers.
The team of Arunachal Olympic Association led by its Secretary General, Abraham K Techi today called on Minister Sports & Youth Affairs , Mama Natung at AP Civil Secretariat and congratulated him on his induction to the state cabinet and greeted him for holding the responsibility of the sports and Youth Association department.
On the occasion, Arunachal Olympic Association submitted a three point memorandum, which include construction of Olympic Bhawan, to initiate for organising of 3rd state Olympic game which is due, and 2nd North East Olympic games in Arunachal Pradesh in 2020.
Speaking to media Techi said that during the last consultative meeting on August 31, 2017, the CM in principle have agreed to construct an Olympic Bhawan and direction was also given to the concern department.
The AOA have been organising the State Olympic games every after two years and the third edition is due which need to be organised.
The state team attended in the 1st North East Olympic games which was held at Imphal in 2018 where the Arunachal team stood third in overall with 18 gold, 22 silver and 39 bronze with total 79 medals, the North East Olympic Association has awarded the 2nd edition which will be held in 2020 and said that state need to organised the said game in our state and we too have to well prepared for the same.
When contacted Minister Sports and Youth Affairs, Mama Natung while replying to the queries of the media said our state government under the leadership of young chief minister have also focusing the sport as one of the priority sector for development.
Sports is now a days turning into a industry and every one will be given due importance. State government policy to meritorious sports person is also under due care and several meritorious sports person have been given employment in the state government.
A memorandum have been received today and we will discus and give priority for the development of games and sports in the state. Minister said.
He also inform that several stadium and other infrastructure is under construction and more to be done. Minster added.
He however appeal all to put all efforts for promotion of games and sports in state.
AOA Vice President G Doke, Bulong Marik, Karate Association of India (KAI) President cum AOA Treasurer Likha Tara, Jt Secretary Tai Hipik and others Yarda Niki, Dr. M Ete, T Niktar and others members were present on the occasion.
