Arunachal: National Tourism Day celebrated at Tawang
National Tourism Day with the theme “Adopt a village for Model Tourism Implementation” was celebrated in Tawang of Arunachal Pradesh.

The National Tourism Day with the theme “Adopt a village for Model Tourism Implementation” was celebrated at Thongleng village under Lumla Circle of Tawang District. Thongleng village was identified and adopted as model village for Tourism Implementation by District Tourism Office, Tawang with support from District Administration based on its tourism potential and feasibility on tourism perspective.
An awareness programme was conducted on 25th January 2019 i.e. on National Tourism day and the programme was graced by Sang Khandu, EAC Tawang as Chief Guest which was participated by the village community, students of Govt. middle school of the village and students of Dorjee Khandu Govt. College, Tawang.
He enlightened the villagers about the importance of tourism and its significant role in village development, employment generation and economy development. He also asked the villagers to maintain hospitality and preserve traditional culture.
Mrs. Tsering Dekey, District Tourism Officer, Tawang while accentuating the villagers about what Tourism is and the role of District Tourism Office, has also featured the potential of the village having Thangaphey lake , Ngangmey Ani Gonpa, Dallai Lama Phodrang which is under construction along with rich agriculture and handicraft, Handloom products.
She also informed and guided on the registration process for homestay registration under Department of Tourism. Lama Dorjee, Gaon Bura of the village also spoke on the occasion.
