The Legal Literacy Club of St. Thomas Residential School today celebrated Children’s day in different way. The school children today takes out a rally and staged street play against the child labour and its consequences on the health of youngsters future.

Flagging off the rally of more than 250 school children of class VI onwards, staffs and well-wishers  of the school at A Sector near Rajdhani Petrol Pump.

Papum Pare district Superintendent of Police Tumme Amo said that child labour is becoming like a curse which is affecting the health growth and affecting the growth of healthy body and sound mind. There are several provision of law for protection of children’s rights, the children below 14 are to be given preference for their growth and they should not be exploited for the selfish end of few individuals in hazardous factor and even at home as slave which have been experienced in our state too.

He said there are now several organisation and NGO working for the protection of children and several laws like POCSO and other IPC are being interpreted by the law enforcing agency but even there are lots to do and we all should come forward for safety and security of our younger generation for a better future of our state and country.

He also spoke on  ill effect of Child Labour, legal provisions to protect children Adolescent Labour (Prohibition & Regulation) Act 1986, Right to Education Act, 2002, .

Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006,  POCSO 2002 and 376 IPC, Cyber crimes, IT Act 2000 and cautions  required, Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act 2005, Cyber Crines, IT Act 2000, Motor vehicle Act 1988 &  Traffic Rules,

He also appreciated the initiatives of the Tourist Police and Arunachal Suraksha Mobile Apps and appeal all general public to download the app and use it during the needy time.

Media Person Manoj Singh attended the function as guest of honour and motivated the children to remain safe and happy while concentrate in their study and become a fine gentleman man to serve the society and become part of state development by becoming a good professionals.

School Director Adv. Easho Cheriyan, Principal Akhil Jose also address the students.

Later the students carryout rally with having leaflet, play cards, and shouting slogans against the use of children as child labour for mass awareness in the thoroughfare of the Naharlagun township and presented street play on the ill effect of child labour and protection of children from exploitation.
