Arunachal: Bilat circle determines to become first plastic free circle of East Siang
The use of plastic and its environmental impact made the people commit to do away it which was initiated by CO Bilat circle who assured to pay some amount for collection of plastic in kilogram wise.

In an effort to make East Siang District a plastic free district of the state being initiated by Public Health Engineering & Water Supply department and District Administration, the Bilat circle determines and commits to become first plastic free circle of the district paving ways for other circles of East Siang to follow.
In a massive turn up of public at the Mirem village community hall in a mass awareness campaign of single use of plastic or plastic free movement organised by PHE & WS Department, East Siang District being participated by Gaon Burahs, village secretaries, village leaders and several Self Help Groups of women of Bilat circle, the people decided to do away plastic from daily uses. All the speakers from GBs to village secretaries from villages like Mirem, Bilat, Ledum, Remi, Miglung and Mikong under Bilat circle all unanimously agreed upon shunning away of regular use of plastic on the appeal of Bilat Circle Officer, Smti Oni Padun and PHE & WS department.
The villagers were briefed and explained about the negative impact of plastic on environment and human health by PHE & WS Pasighat Division Executive Engineer, Er. Mijing Dupak, AE Er. Tadung Padung, JE Smti (Er.) Yamoli Tatak, CO Bilat circle, Smti Oni Padun, veteran Singer, Delong Padung, State Board for Wildlife Member, M. Tayeng and Addl. Dy. Commissioner (HQ), Tatdo Borang etc. The rapid depletion of forest & wildlife due to excessive hunting and felling of forest by human which has caused global warming with raising of temperature leading to drying up of streams and brooks have been made understood to the villagers co-relating the present and past scenarios.

In this connection a run for collection of plastic programme is also fixed very shortly where village wise areas are earmarked for collection of plastic wastes under Bilat circle.
Attending the programme as Chief Guest, Tatdo Borang said that it is the need of the hour to awake and rise to know the side effects of plastic which has health hazard for human being, forest & animals. “We need to stop regular use of plastic in our daily life while also stopping hunting and destroying forest. People of Bilat circle need to show the way by becoming the first circle to go plastic free”, added Borang. Er. Mijing Dupak, EE PHE & WS opined hope that, the people of Bilat circle will stay united and go plastic free in the district.
