Arunachal: KVK Anjaw Distributes Kiwi, Plum Saplings Under TSP
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Anjaw organised a training and sapling distribution programme under the Tribal Sub-Plan to promote scientific kiwi and plum cultivation for livelihood enhancement.

ANJAW- The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Anjaw organised a Training cum Input Distribution Programme of Kiwi and Plum Saplings under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) Project on February 6, 2026, at its office in Metengliang.
The programme witnessed participation from 60 farmers, rural youths, public representatives and members of self-help groups from multiple villages of Anjaw district. Farmers from Chaglagam, Metengliang, Kongra and Rittiliang villages received between 60 and 80 saplings each, including 30–40 kiwi and 30–40 plum saplings per beneficiary.
According to officials, the initiative aims to improve farmers’ livelihoods by encouraging the scientific cultivation of high-value fruit crops suited to the district’s agro-climatic conditions. Anjaw district, particularly the Chaglagam circle, has been identified as a favourable zone for kiwi cultivation due to its climate and terrain.

Prior to the distribution, participants were instructed to prepare their land for plantation. Guidance on plot development and land preparation was provided by Satveer Yadav, Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture), KVK Anjaw.
During the technical session, Yadav delivered a detailed lecture on scientific cultivation practices for kiwi and plum fruits, covering site selection, pit digging, planting methods, irrigation schedules, training and pruning techniques, harvesting practices, and insect-pest management. He emphasised the economic potential of kiwi as a high-value crop and underlined the need to create awareness among farmers and rural youths to enhance income through diversified horticulture.

Another session was addressed by S. Peter Singh, Subject Matter Specialist (Social Science), who spoke on the importance of scientific kiwi plantation, natural farming practices, and nursery management techniques for kiwi cultivation.
Officials said the programme is part of broader efforts under the Tribal Sub-Plan to promote sustainable agriculture, income diversification and skill development among tribal farming communities in remote areas of Arunachal Pradesh.
