Arunachal: National Tourism Day Marked with Cycle Rally at Ziro

National Tourism Day was celebrated at Ziro with a cycle rally and cleanliness drive to promote sustainable, responsible and eco-friendly tourism practices.

ZIRO- The Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, in collaboration with the Ziro Tourism Organisation (ZTO) and the Lower Subansiri District Cycle Association, celebrated National Tourism Day at Ziro on January 25 with a series of activities aimed at promoting sustainable and responsible tourism.

The observance began with a cycle rally that was flagged off from Golden Resort, Biirii, by District Tourism Officer, Ziro, Khoda Yakang Millo, in the presence of Ziro Tourism Organisation chairman Hibu Tatu. The rally passed through Hari, Bulla, Lempia and Ziro, carrying messages on environmental protection, cleanliness and eco-friendly tourism practices in rural areas.

According to Koj Mama, a senior tour operator from the Ziro Valley, over 20 cyclists participated in the rally. The participants included tourists, students and members of the Apatani Youth Association (AYA), reflecting broad community involvement in the initiative.

The cycle rally concluded at the Ziro Putu Viewpoint, where participants undertook a cleanliness drive, collecting waste and reinforcing the importance of preserving natural landscapes and public spaces frequented by visitors.

Officials said the key focus of the National Tourism Day celebrations was to highlight the importance of sustainability, conservation of cultural heritage, and responsible travel practices that support local livelihoods and protect the fragile ecology of the region.

The event underscored a collective commitment by stakeholders to promote tourism in Ziro as a tool for inclusive and sustainable development while safeguarding the valley’s natural and cultural assets.
