In a bid to encourage the opium grower for alternative farming, Lohit Organic Tea was launched here today at the Loiliang by Prince Dhawan, DC Lohit in the presence of Dayuya Self Help Group, Soronso Chaitom Proprietor of Lohit Green Tea, Gaonburas and Agriculture Officials and public.
In his motivational speech, the DC said that the villager has to till their land and produce crops as you have abundant fertile land. “Govt. is committed to give you full backup. We have lots of schemes to be percolated. The example set by producing Lohit Organic Tea is a milestone
for the district. I will promise to help you in getting Land Holding Certificate (LHC) to avail govt. beneficiaries”, He assures.
Earlier, DC made a spot visit at Dayuya SHG garden at Loiliang and appreciated the SHG for practicing organic Beans, Pineapple, Banana etc. the DC also motivated the women for organic cultivation and assured to provide market if production gets high.
Chaitom who is also an ADO Lohit said that the motive behind setting up of Organic Tea Garden with processing plan is to encourage small tea growers. “Organic tea cost Rs 50 to Rs 90 per Kg depending on quality in comparison to normal tea which is Rs 15 per Kg.
The best climatic condition for tea is favorable and opening of garden general employment and dissuades villagers from opium and go for tea cultivation”, he advises.
