MP Tai Tagak Announces ₹15 Lakh Each for Model Anganwadi Centres at Doimukh, Sagalee
Rajya Sabha MP Tai Tagak announced ₹15 lakh each from his MPLAD fund for Model Anganwadi Centres at Doimukh and Sagalee during a visit to Anganwadi Centres in Papum Pare.

YUPIA- RajyaSabha MP Tai Tagak has announced an allocation of ₹15 lakh each from his MPLAD fund for the construction of Model Anganwadi Centres at Doimukh and Sagalee, during his visit to Anganwadi Centres under the Doimukh ICDS Project.
The announcement was made during the final leg of the Angan Milan Seva programme, when Tagak interacted with Anganwadi workers, helpers and PRI members at the Tigdo-III Anganwadi Centre.
The MP directed the Deputy Commissioner, Papum Pare, to identify suitable locations for the proposed Model Anganwadi Centres and ensure that the selected land is free from all encumbrances.
Focus on stronger Anganwadi infrastructure
Tagak highlighted the significance of Angan Milan Seva, an initiative being carried out under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan. He said the programme seeks to strengthen the connection between local communities and Anganwadi Centres, which serve as grassroots institutions for early childhood care, nutrition, healthcare and education.
He also emphasised that community participation is essential for strengthening these institutions and called upon stakeholders to work together for the development of Anganwadi Centres.
Need to integrate Anganwadis with education
The MP stressed the importance of integrating Anganwadi Centres with educational institutions under Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) in line with the National Education Policy 2020.
According to Tagak, such integration is aimed at supporting quality education and the holistic development of children during their formative years.
Infrastructure gaps highlighted
Deputy Commissioner Mamu Hage presented an overview of Anganwadi Centres in Papum Pare and highlighted infrastructure-related challenges.
She informed that no funds had been allotted for construction of Anganwadi Centres since 2010, resulting in several centres requiring maintenance and improvement. She also said that Land Possession Certificates for Anganwadi Centres would be processed on priority.
Deputy Director, ICDS, Jaya Taba, briefed the gathering on activities undertaken during the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah and various schemes and programmes being implemented by the Department of Women and Child Development.
Anganwadi workers raise basic facility concerns
CDPO, Doimukh, Maya Murtem, highlighted difficulties faced by Anganwadi workers, including issues related to low honorarium and inadequate basic amenities such as toilets and drinking water at several centres.
The announcement of ₹30 lakh for two Model Anganwadi Centres comes against the backdrop of infrastructure gaps highlighted during the visit, placing renewed focus on improving the physical facilities and strengthening Anganwadi services at the grassroots level.
