Arunachal: 105 Karko Households Back PFR Activities

Thirteen additional households from Karko village submit consent for Pre-Feasibility Report activities, raising support to 105 out of 120 families.

YINGKIONG-  Support for the proposed Pre-Feasibility Report (PFR) activities in Karko village of Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Siang district has increased, with 13 additional households submitting their consent to the district administration on Tuesday.

The consent letters were formally submitted to Deputy Commissioner of Upper Siang, Talo Jerang, at his office chamber in Yingkiong at around 12:54 PM.

With the latest development, the number of households supporting the PFR activities has risen to 105 out of the total 120 households in Karko village.

The consent letters were submitted by Oda Pangkam and Dunggap Nokar, who represented the pro-PFR residents of the village.

Officials said the process follows earlier Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed between the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and residents supporting the proposed PFR activities. The MoUs were signed in two phases on February 1 and February 14, 2026.

Initially, 76 households had provided their consent for the PFR activities. This was followed by 16 additional households, and with the submission of consent by 13 more families on Tuesday, the total number of supporting households has reached 105.

The Pre-Feasibility Report activities are part of preliminary assessments typically conducted before the implementation of major infrastructure or development projects.

Deputy Commissioner Talo Jerang appreciated what he described as the voluntary participation and positive initiative shown by the villagers, acknowledging their cooperation with the district administration.

District authorities indicated that the consent submissions are part of an ongoing administrative process related to the proposed project, while further steps will proceed in accordance with government procedures and consultations with local communities.
