Despite state having 82% forest cover, the Govt launched the campaign so that this plantation drive will help create awareness about the value of greenery in the forest and protect environment and combat climate change, added Mein.
The state is considered one of the 12 mega diversity “Hot Spots” in the world. There is a huge scope to develop forest tourism in the state which in turn can help promote sustainable forestry management and support local communities, opined Mein.
“Planting trees is one of the most important things you can do to save the environment”, said Mein to the students present on the occasion and encouraged them to generate awareness on how to safeguard the nature for future generation.
He heartily commended the Department of Environment & Forest for launching and making the students’ part of the well-orchestrated statewide Clean-Green Arunachal Campaign 2019.
“We believe students are the future. Instilling them with good habits can help secure a future for generations to come,” said Mein.
