Tai Khampti Singpho Council Takes Stock of the Flood Situation in Namsai

The continuous torrential downpour for the last few days has created havoc and caused immense damage to lives and properties almost in the entire Namsai District. The Tai Khampti Singpho Council has taken stock of the situation and is deeply concerned to the situation and appeals to all the denizens to render help to the affected people at this hour of need.  The council Further appeals to the people to remain alert and vigil till the rain receeds.

The Noa-Dehing River has over flooded almost the entire Lekang circle while flood water has affected the entire Namsai Township and its adjoining villages, mostly under Piyong circle. The water level of Noa-Dehing and Jengthu rivers are on still rising .

The flood situation under Chongkham circle also remains grim as the water level of the Lohit, Kamlang, Berreng, Tengapani rivers and its tributaries are rapidly increasing. The worse affected areas are Gunanagar, Alubari, Injo, Insa, Pangkhao and Kherem. The flood has resulted massive erosion to the river banks and caused damages to the cultivated land, paddy fields, tea gardens, horticultural fields, live stocks, etc besides rendering many to helpless and homeless.

The Council appreciated the  concern of  Chief minister  Pema Khandu, Dy CM Sri Chowna Mein, the local MLAs, Chow Tewa Mein and Chow Zingnu Namchoom, the District Administration and the government departments of their prompt initiative and action in providing the immediate relief to the affected people.
