Siang cup-2017 football tournament begins motivational camp



Siang Cup-2017 football tournament  with a motivational camp began with its inauguration at football ground at the Premises of Donyi Polo Tea Estate here today.

Addressing the gathering of the locals, participants and students of the area former Chief Minister Gegong Apang said that the very purpose of organising such a platform will give an opportunity for the young girls to go for a higher level and play football.

He said that everything began from zero point and hope that a good and strong team would come up and go to play football at national and international level.

He said that this is a rare opportunity that various teams are taking parts which would be motivated by the organising team of Donyi Polo Mission and experts from Manipur and state who would trained the for next  few days.

Appealing the participants to maintain team spirit and play the game with brotherhood and give them best of luck for their future endeavours.

He said that it is a happy moment that two teams from Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan and Donyi Polo Hearing Impaired are also taking parts and hope that they play well and bring laurel for their area and state in future.

Event Coordinator Mone Apang while highlighting the  purposes of organising such tournament said it is an opportunity to promote the game to the young girls. It is not about winning the game but building individual personality so that her all-round development come through football. This cup may bring the students of all community together and create unity among all.

Mone said that it was our endeavour that we have a mission to bring a team of young girls from our state who can represent the district, state, country in the world arena in the field of football.

Soccer Foundation of India (SFI) Chairperson, Bikaram Thockchom in his address said that we want to make a centre of excellence in the region and wanted that the India reached to the women football in international arena in FIFA world cup 2027.

Arunachal being a peaceful state and have potential to unite all in sports as medium of spoken is Hindi which is liked by many and would be opportunity that the Arunachal may connect all through sports in time to come. He said that football is a language and need to learn though grassroots so we have planned to build it right from teenager and appeal all to learn foorball with daily yoga for a healthy living.

The Siang Cup-2017  organised by Donyi Polo Mission (NGO) in coordination with Soccer foundation of India which shall continue till December 12 . The camp while shall trained the participants from 12 team from Pasighat, Oyan-1 & 2, Pame, Aalu, Sika, Bamin, Pakora, DPVB, DPHI, DPTE-2 teams, team of DWFA, Adro (Manipur) and all are under-18

Few friendly match was played between Manipur vrs Pasighat, Oyan Vrs TPTE.

Member of Parliament (Arunachal East) Ninong Ering, former Union Minister of State Omak Apang among other local officers and public leaders, football enthusiast among others  were present during the inaugural ceremony.
