Shillong- BSF Wives Welfare Association Celebrates BWWA Day

Border Security Force, Frontier HQ BSF, Shillong celebrated “BSF Wives Welfare Association Day”(BWWA) at BSF campus, Mawpat. The BWWA is a society registered with Registrar of Societies Delhi. It was established in 1992. The wife of DG BSF is the president of this society and the lady wives of Spl DG, Addl DG of BSF are the other office bearers.
The aims and objectives of BWWA are to secure the welfare of all serving and retired members of BSF and their families, Reaching out to the widows and helping in their rehabilitation and to provide vocational training to the families for economic empowerment.
The event started with lightening of lamp by Dr. Manishi Dubey, President of BWWA Shillong. Programme was witnessed by the families of all local BSF Battalions, Sector Shillong and Ftr HQ BSF Meghalaya. The programme covered wide canvas of activities like Quiz competition, Drawing competition, Debate competition, Rangoli competition, Mehandi competition, small children of Ankur Play School, Umpling participated in fancy dress competition and colourful cultural programme followed by prize distribution. The participation of ladies during all these activities was heart warming
In her address Dr. Manishi Dubey, President of BWWA Shillong, Meghalaya Frontier, Chief Guest of the programme appreciated the immense contribution of “BWWA” in upliftment of jawan’s families in the BSF where their husband stay on the border. She also appealed “BWWA” to undertake multidimensional activities to address the problems of jawans families by organizing vocational training, computer awareness, literacy and health programmes.
