Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2019 to be held at Pasighat

Pasighat was chosen for venue considering the feasibility of hosting a national championship-Kipa Ajay, Honorary Secretary of APFA.

The 25th Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2019 will be held at Pasighat, East Siang district from 10 to 24 September. This will be the first major Women’s National Championship to be hosted by the state in the history of Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) since its inception in 1992.

Kipa Ajay, Honorary Secretary of APFA while addressing a press conference here at Arunachal Press Club informed that 30 teams including Arunachal Pradesh are expected to participate for the championship.

He added that CM Pema Khandu will grace the inaugural ceremony as Chief Guest while Speaker of State Legislative Assembly, P D Sona will also attend as Guest of Honour.

Most importantly, the coach of Indian Women Football Team will visit the venue for scouting from quarter finals stage, he added.

Kipa also informed that the head of Women unit of All India Football Federation (AIFF), Sapna Rani and her team have visited the venue and inspected the feasibility and the preparation for hosting the championship, to which the team has approved to hold the championship to be held at the venue.

He informed that Pasighat was chosen for venue considering the feasibility of hosting a national championship. He added that the condition of the grounds and accommodation arrangements were assessed, before finalizing the venue. “For instance, Capital Complex has no proper stadium that has the criteria set for hosting the championship. The stadium in Chimpu is still in construction. Therefore after assessing and processing, Pasighat is chosen as venue for the championship,” he added.

He said that Pasighat Stadium and CHF Pasighat Ground will be used for the tournament. He added that 5 matches will be played in a day, 3 matches in CHF ground and 2 matches in the stadium.

For accommodation, he said that most of the participating teams will be accommodated inside the stadium which has the facilities to accommodation. While he added that the remaining teams will be accommodated hotels and in home stay.

He further added that one liasioning officer will be provided for each team to guide and to instruct them. Moreover, he stated that once participating team reached the railway station at Naharlagun, transportation will be provided for each team and the liasoning officer assigned will accompany them to the venue.

Meanwhile, for the convenience of public, temporary Inner Line Permit will be issued in Ruksin gate near Pasighat.

Kipa also informed that medical/ambulance with paramedical staff and doctors facilities will be provided for the tournament.

When asked of the security arrangement, Kipa stated that the APFA have discussed the security arrangement with DC and SP of East Siang district, to which both have assured full security for the championship.

Speaking of the state team preparation, he said that the players have been training for since last 45 days.

He appealed to the public, NGOs and CBOs to extend support for the tournament and urged upon the public to promote the state tourism. He added that the liasoning officers will impart knowledge of state tourism to the participating teams.

Kipa Takum, Vice President APFA and Takam Tallum Dado, APFA Treasurer also attended the press conference.
