The role of Anganwadi workers are very crucial in the villages as they act as a facilitator in the field to educate the village women and children about their health and education, said Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein in the first state level conference cum foundation day of All Arunachal Pradesh Angawadi Workers and Helpers Union  held at Itanagar on Saturday.

Addressing the conference the Dy Chief Minister informed to Anganwadi workers ( AWW ) and Anganwadi Helpers ( AWH ) gathered  from all over the state that  ”  considering the importance of the role played by Anganwadi Workers and Helpers, the state Government has decided to enhance the honorarium of Angawadi Workers to Rs 4500/-  and Anganwadi Helpers to Rs 3000/- per month from this year on wards with the state government contributing a share of Rs 1500/– per month to both AWW and AWWH.

Mr Chowna Mein appeal to the AWW and AWH to work with more zeal and educate the women folk in villages about various schemes under Integrated Child Development Services provided by Govt Of India like Early Childhood Care Education & Development , Care & Nutrition Counselling etc.  Immunization, Micronutrient supplementation,  etc .

” AWW and AWH  must educate the community about Mhaila Samridhi Yojna which provide Micro finance to women self groups”  said Mr Chowna Mein.

Mr Mein asked the AWW and AWH ” being a genuine facilitator , you must work in Coordination with the Accredited Social Health Activists engaged under National Health Mission and Auxiliary Nurse Midwife ( ANM ) for effective implementation of health care services in rural areas.

Mr Mein urged to AWW and AWH  to ” sincerely discharge your duty and act as a bridge between the women in villages and the govt”.

” AWW and AWH also motivate the married women in the villages to adopt family planning  and birth control measures by visiting their home and educating the parents to plan an effective role n the Child’s growth and development” said the Deputy Chief Minister.

” Mr Mein said that the State govt will extend all possible help and logistic support for the revamping of  6225 Anganwadi Centres across the state run by the Women & Child Development Department.
