Chongkham

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein given a rousing reception on Friday at Chongkham on his return after assuming the post of Deputy Chief Minister in the new government. Mein had contested this year’s election from 46-Chongkham assembly constituency after representing 48-Lekang assembly constituency for five consecutive terms. He was accompanied by Lekang MLA Jummum Ete Deori and other heads of departments.

Mein was received by former MLA Chongkham Chow Tewa Mein, Khamti Chief Chow Khanseing Namchoom, Chief of Chongkham Chow Miling Namchoom amongst others. He was felicitated by various government departments, BJP karyakartas, NGOs and the general public.

In his address, Mein expressed his gratitude for the blessings and constant support of the people of the area which had ensured his win with a high percentage margin. He thanked and appreciated the electorate of the constituency for the massive mandate.He said words were short to adequately thank the people as he added that history was created in Namsai for the massive win.”It is my sixth term and I assure you I will dedicatedly work for development and growth of state.” said Mein. He said “Every community has high hopes on me and I am there to fulfil their aspirations.”

Further he said that challenges are many but the new Team Arunachal will take the responsibility and work for the progress of state.

Mein informed that for the new financial year the government will take up new points to include in budget in consultation with all CBOs. Border areas challenges are many and roads and basic amenities should reach the people of the area so that the urban migration can be contained with development.

Health and education were some challenges which needs reforms and for that the government was ready to bring in proper policies.For development in foothills areas there was need for big industrial corridors.

He informed that the Chief Minister has said that there should be no more VIP culture, avoid partying, donation culture has to end and action will be initiated to non performing ministers. Ministers will be give charges of districts to oversee the development activities .

Reforms have been brought in financial, health, agri-horti sectors reforms but what remains now is to work on its implementation.

The District Hospitals needs to be modernised and specialist doctors are required which needs to be fulfilled.

In order to respond to the challenges in law and order sector Mein said police modernisation including procurement of modernized equipment will be taken up.

Responding to the numerous memorandum submitted by the public, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the demands put forth shall be considered while in the case of Chongkham villagers for upgradation of EAC office to ADC Headquarter he expressed that first infrastructure development should be taken up. He also said that the cremation ground of Chongkham will be developed and beautified.

Lekang MLA Jummum Ete Deori on her address said that she was ready to work as a family for the development of Namsai district.Being new in her field she sought the blessings of elders.

Earlier, Chow Tewa Mein while delivering his welcome address thanked the people of the constituency for reposing faith in him and supporting him to be in active politics as a legislator since 1975 and till his retirement now. He asked the new legislator and the present Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein to focus on flood protection as the constituency was facing constant threat from flooding like in the past. He also said that as leaders and as a society all must take efforts to curb the menace of drugs abuse.

Khamti Chief Namchoom, i/c DC Namsai B.Talukdar and  former ZPC Wakro Patam Rangmang, also spoke in the occasion.

Earlier in he morning , DCM Mein also paid visit to Kongmukham (Golden Pagoda) at Noy Chenam and Momong Buddhist Vihara to offer prayer and pay obeisance to Lord Buddha.
