Meghalaya: North East Food Show- huge crowd in Arunachal’s stalls

Arunachal is also taking part with participation of more than 19 stalls in North East Food Show.

The first edition of the North East Food Show by Meghalaya and Salon International de l’Agrolimentaire (SIAL) Group, which started here in Shillong on Wednesday, with the aims to bring the farmers of the region face to face with potential buyers.

Arunachal is also taking part with participation of more than 19 stalls in North East Food Show. Huge crowd is seen in the Arunachal’s stalls on the second day of the show.

Participating in the panel discussion held at festival venue, progressive farmer from Arunachal Pradesh, Likha Maj highlighted the food processing opportunities in Arunachal Pradesh.  He said that there has been lots of opportunities of establishing of several food processing industries in state. Central government has allotted a ‘ Mega food park’ in Arunachal which is going to established near Banderdewa in Papum Pare district.

The food park would be spread in an area of around 75 acres of land and there are provision of accommodating more than 30 industries of different verities. All facilities and provisions will be there to support the industries linkages, including transportation facilities and communication, running water and power supply and IT system to the investors. Maj said.

He inform that there are lots of opportunities as the state is rich in flora and fauna and land available for cultivation of agri, horti and allied activities. He appeal the investors to come forward and join hand in making success of the Mega food park.

Horticulture Joint Director Narang Kani spoke on the opportunities and availabilities of facilities and support by the state government to the farmers and cultivation of different products in state and its utilization.

Deputy Director Industries Goli Angu spoke on development of opportunities in food processing industries in state. He said that state government is preparing for new industrial policy which would support the investors to invest in state in various field.

It is to state that the ‘North East Food Show’ was inaugurated by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma while Arunachal Chief Minister will also visit the festival on Friday to boost the morale of the participants of state and others.
