Lohit becomes first district to launch Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) ,  Minister for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Art & Culture, and Research Dr. Mohesh Chai handed over LPG Connections to Ten beneficiaries at Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana LPG Distribution Mela at Amik Ringya Hall, Tezu, on Saturday. Deputy Commissioner Danish Ashraf, SP Isaac Pertin, Officials from Indian Oil, HoDs, PRI members, Gaon Burahs, public were present in the programme.

Dr Mohesh  lauded Lohit District to have become the first district in Arunachal Pradesh to launch the PMUY in any district after its launch at Itanagar.

He termed the PMUY as a freedom from disease caused by using unclean fuels for cooking and it will greatly help the BPL women who still rely on using firewood for cooking purposes in our State.

He also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for understanding the problem of BPL women and materialise their dream by providing free LPG Connection to them.

Under his leadership number of schemes is being implemented for the benefit of rural masses and one such programme is Ujjala Yojana which has been launched in Tezu wherein LED appliances are provided at subsidised rates by APEDA, he informed. He asked everyone to utilise the benefits of such schemes.

DC Ashraf also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the significance of PMUY and said that the Yojana is aimed to provide LPG connections to women belonging to BPL family for clean cooking. He instructed the District Food and Civil Supplies Officer to ensure maximum BPL women in the district receives the benefit of this scheme.
