Late Lummer Dai Memorial Poem Recitation Competition held

The 1st ever Late Lummer Dai Memorial Poem Recitation Competition for Lower Primary and Upper Primary classes for both Government and Private Schools under Mebo Sub-Division, the birth place of luminary literary personality, Late Lummer Dai gets several and warm participation of young soul who recited poetry in their varied titles.

 Speaking on the maiden Lummer Dai Memorial Poem recitation competition, DDSE, East Siang appreciated the initiative of 39 Mebo Intellectual Forum (39MIF) for having organized such a memorable competition among the students which will give encouragement to the students in literary activities. Yirang also marked that, Lt. Lummer Dai who was born in Silluk village under Mebo Sub-Division was a literary giant and his life should be seen as an inspiration by the students. While, Dr. Dangi Perme, advisor, 39MIF also spoke on learning from the life of Late Lummer Dai who is a great inspiration for our students today. He proposed for making an annual event of this competition amongst the students under Mebo Sub-Division as a mark of respect to Late Dai. Kaling Borang, President, Adi Agom Kebang who spoke on life history of Late Lummer Dai recalled the entire course of Lt. Dai who despite all odds during those olden days made himself marked across Assam and Arunachal today through his literary works.  He also suggested for making the day as annual event in Mebo and proposed for a Lummer Dai statue here.

While, Bodong Yirang, Chief Patron, 39MIF who sponsored and conceptualized the programme said that, this maiden attempt is to encourage the students of our Mebo area at lower classes so that the importance of literary works grows in them in the tender age. Osu Borang, President, 39MIF also spoke. Mibom Dai, S/o Lt. Lummer Dai who also attended the competition also expressed thankfulness to the 39MIF for organizing such a magnificent event in the name of Lt. Dai. Lining Pertin and Maktil Apum, V/President and Sec. General respectively also spoke. “This attempt of 39MIF is to generate interest of literary activities and works among the younger generation right from lower classes so that students become expert and have interest in literary works at the line of Lt. Dai who is known across Assam and Arunachal today for his great literary works”, said Maksam Tayeng, Gen. Secy. 39 MIF.

Among Sub-Junior category (Class I-V), Miss Vidya Chetry, a Class III students of Don Bosco School, Mebo secured 1st with 46 marks out of total 60 marks, while both Miss Lomti Lego, Class V, UPS, Ngopok and Mr. Attu Darang, Class IV, UPS Namsing secured  2nd position with 42.5 marks each. And Miss Ome Jamoh, Class III, UPS Motum, secured 3rd with 40.5 marks. While among Junior category (Class VI-VIII), two students, Miss Dhimi Rajonisha Pai, Class VII, KGBV, Kiyit  and Miss Bidai Borang, Class VII, UPS Ngopok got 1st with 45 marks, while Miss Ponung Yirang, Class VII, KGBV Motum was 2nd with 42.5 marks. Again two students namely, Miss Gebi Perme, Class VIII, UPS, Ayeng and Miss Ngina Gamno, Class VI of Govt. Sec. School Kiyit secured 3rd with 40.5 marks.

The winners were announced by Yemling Tayeng, Add. Dy. Commissioner, Mebo and  Yalem Taga Burang, President, Adi Baane Kebang Women Wing, East Siang after three judges, Girin Tamuli, NS Yadav and Mohonto Pangging made a close observation of all the participants where almost all the LP and UP Schools participated including private run schools. The prizes with certificates will be given to the winners on Republic Day at Mebo by ADC Mebo.
