The Do or Die indefinite hunger strike by the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and its allied movement group-NDFB-P and PJACBM enters third day today at Kokrajhar Govt Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School ground.

The agitators today refused to take any assistance including medical treatment even as the health condition of the volunteers on fast unto death is rapidly deteriorating.

Altogether 1111 volunteers including 17 women are on indefinite fast since 9 am of 10th March 2017 led by ABSU President Promod Boro, NDFB-P Chairman Mr. Dhiren Boro and PJACBM President Mr. Rakesh Boro demanding early political solution to the long standing demand of separate Bodoland state and to protect, preserve and safeguard the identity of the indigenous people of Assam.

Thousands of public from various part of the state thronged the venue to mark their support and solidarity to the movement. The inclement weather also could not deter the swelling up of crowds.

The movement group leaders are determined to continue the fast till the government responds.

Addressing the huge gathering ABSU President Promod Boro expressed grave concern over the lackadaisical attitude of the government. “At one hand the government appeals the arms groups to shun the path of violence as pre-condition for negotiation. On the other hand, does not even respond to the democratic and nonviolence path, such as the ABSU has been undertaking presently”.

The ABSU leader sent out a strong message to the government, both at the state and Centre that they will not fall into prey to any diplomatic moves unless a comprehensive political dialogue on the long pending issues of the Bodos and indigenous tribal people of Assam is initiated at the earliest.

The ABSU president also thank the public, intellectuals, writers, artists, activists and renowned personalities from diverse field who have been thronging the venue to extend their whole hearted support to the movement. The spontaneous flow of thousands of people everyday exhibits the urgent need to resolve the issue once and for all. It inspires and determines us to continue with our struggle more vigorously.”

The fast unto death agitation has been attended by thousands of people from across the state irrespective of ethnicity, religion, caste and creed.

Addressing at the mammoth gathering ABSU President Promod Boro expressed grave concern over the lackadaisical attitude of the government. The Government of India appeals the arms groups to shun the path of violence for negotiation, but on the other hand, it does not.
