Khandu Visits Sumbachu Hydro Power Project at Zemithang

Chief Minister Pema Khandu visited 3MW Sumbachu Small Hydro Power (SHP) at Zemithang on Sunday to inspect the progress of work.
Delayed by almost 4 years, the officials of the executing agency Nortech Power, Kolkata assured the project would be commissioned by 31st August 2017. They informed that the project has completed 85% of its work.
Khandu, however, expressed disappointment and lambasted the company quizzing them on the tardy progress of work. He strictly issued direction to the corporation to meet all the deadlines on time.
Due to slow pace of work, the project had invited wraths from the local public causing great disappointments due to power shortage in the area.
The Chief Minister directed the hydropower department to depute an engineer to monitor the work and strictly ordered the engineers not to abstain from their duty.
Also expressing resentment over the callous attitude of the corporation, RWD Parliamentary Secretary Jambey Tashi called for a meeting at Itanagar in April next. Expressing that the govt. would accept no further excuses on work delay, he directed the corporation for bringing out realistic work achievements.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Art and Culture Minister Dr Mohesh Chai, RWD Parliamentary Secretary Jambey Tashi, Planning Parliamentary Secretary, Zingnu Namchoom, Tawang MLA Tsering Tashi, State BJP President, Tapir Gao, Hydro Power Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh (HPDCAP) Chairman Tungri Effa and Tawang DC Sang Phuntsok.
