Itanagar: Rijiju appeals for preservation of tradition and culture

Participating the celebration, Rijiju lauded the progressive nature of the Adi community and how it incorporated all the other communities in the celebrations.

Union Minister of state (Independent charge) for Sports, Youth affairs Kiren Rijiju today  appeal one and all for preservation of art, culture and traditional value of tribal community of state.

Addressing the “Solung” socio-cultural and agricultural festival of the Adi community here at Mopin solung ground today. Rijiju called upon all stake holders for protection, preservation and promotion of our tradition, culture which is the identity of tribal society of state.

Participating the celebration, Rijiju lauded the progressive nature of the Adi community and how it incorporated all the other communities in the celebrations.

“The spirit of Solung is visible,” he said.

On the occasion, he advised community-based organisations to work together for the welfare of all.

“We need to preserve our culture, but not in isolation. We cannot progress alone” he said.

Addressing the gathering, president of the Society of Festivals of the Adis, Anong Perme said that the youth should be involved in such festivals and they should be engaged in multiple activities to preserve their identity and values.

Solung festival Capital complex Itanagar-2019 president Taring Darang, General Secretary Tassor Pali among other also address the gathering.

The  programme was also attended by Dambuk MLA Gum Tayeng, Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar,  PWD Commissioner and Secretary to Government of Arunachal Pradesh Bidol Tayeng.

Several traditional and cultural performances were performed which mesmerize the audience on the occasion. Solung souvenir, Diigok Roli and Adi audio album, Gayo Vol-II was also released by the chief guest.
