Itanagar Capital Police Busted Fake Degree Racket, One arrested

This fake degree racket was first reported to SP Capital in the month of March/19 by one of the aggrieved students regarding fraud done by a Guwahati based institute.

The Itanagar Capital Police Busted a Fake Degree Racket and arrested one person from Guwahati, Assam.This fake degree racket was first reported to SP, Capital in the month of March/19 by one of the aggrieved students regarding fraud done by a Guwahati based institute.

While sensing the seriousness of the matter, SP Capital directed OC PS to register a case vide Itanagar PS Case No.65/2019 u/s 468/471/420 IPC on 02.03.2019.

The brief of the complaint was that in the year 2014-16 large numbers of students of Arunachal Pradesh had taken admission in various courses through North East Education Institute located at Ganeshguri, Guwahati.

Meanwhile, they got admission in different courses of Class -X, Class -XII, B. A., M. A., B. Com., B. Ed. Diploma in Civil Engineering etc. from the various board and university in the midst of 2015.

However, by last part of 2017 they came to know that the said institution is deceiving the students and certificates issued to the students are fake.  The so called director of the institute namely Nitul Thakuria was evasive and switched off his phone numbers. The institute was also closed and students were wandering here and there to get the payment back and for the sake of justice.

The matter was very old as the incident happened in the year 2016-17 and accused person was untraceable due to lack of proper address. However, after registration of the case, SI N. Nishant, I/O of the case started monitoring and analysing old records and managed to zeroed down the location of Nitul Thakuria in Guwahati with the help of CMCU, PHQ Itanagar & he was arrested on 19.10.19 from Hatigaon , Guwahati area by I.O. SI N Nishant and his team & Assam Police under the close supervision of SP Capital Tumme Amo , Dy SP K. Sikom, SDPO Itanagar and Inspr. M Geyi, OC PS Itanagar. He was produced before a Guwahati Court which sent him to Itanagar on 3 days transit remand.

It is pertinent to mention here that in the last month of Sept a sting operation was done by a renowned national news channel in Delhi wherein one person was caught on camera saying that he can manage qualification certificates from different university including one leading private university of Arunachal Pradesh. While taking the cognizance into the matter, a separate case has been registered by Capital Police and investigation is on.
