Itanagar: 2 employee suspended for tampering with electricity meter

The duo was also found to be involved in pilferage of government revenue in connivance with certain people.

The Capital Electrical Division here today terminated the services of two of its casual employees following their alleged involvement in tampering the electricity meters.

Capital Electrical Division executive engineer (E) Joram Lali in an office order issued today stated that casual lineman Dilip Sharma and casual wireman Rohit Roy were found to be involved in ‘anti-departmental’ activities in general and habitual in tampering with the energy meters.

The duo was also found to be involved in pilferage of government revenue in connivance with certain people, added Lali.

While Sharma was engaged as a casual lineman under DDK Feeder here, Roy was serving as casual wireman under Rajbhawan section, here.

The department has been undertaking efforts to curb the illegal activities of energy meter tampering since last year and has so far brought three individuals who were found to be involved in such illegal activities, to justice.
