The inter state basket ball summer tournament -2019 organised by the Arunachal Pradesh Basketball Association (APBA) beganat KV-I ground. A total of 13 boys team, 2 girls team from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh and two club from Assam are taking part.
APBA President Donyi Ori inform the media that the summer tournament will continue till June 23. A total of 13 boys team and 2 girls team are participating from the state, One team from Tezpur and another one from Guwahati are also participating. The state’s team are from Pasighat, Aalo, Roing and different parts of Papum Pare district and capital complex.
During 2018 we have started the state level tournament wherein around 350 participants had taken part. This year due to bad weather the participants have been reduced to around 185. The winner will be awarded with seal, trophy, certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- while runner will be given with case prize of Rs. 15,000/- seal and certificate and there shall be prizes for most valuable player of the tournament and game respectively.
We are very much hopeful that the basket ball game will be given due attention from the state government and lots of hope and expectation from our MP and MOS Kiren Rijiju who know the problem of our state better.
There are no indoor hall for playing basket ball and due to which our players are playing in rain but our appeal will be there to all the stakeholders that they may not demoralised the enthuses of our youth talent. Ori added.
APBA General Secretary Techi Kanya Tara also spoke on the occasion.
