IMD predicts Severe thunderstorm, Rainfall over northeast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday forecast widespread thunderstorm activity and heavy rainfall over east and northeast India during the next three-four days.

The India Meteorological Department said a cyclonic circulation lies over east Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand and a trough runs from this cyclonic circulation to Manipur across Meghalaya.

According to the ministry, for the next three days (1 May, 2 May and 3 May) thunderstorm accompanied with squall/hail very likely at isolated places over West Bengal and Sikkim.

Heavy rain very likely at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim and West Bengal, the ministry said.
