Force Level Inter Frontier BSF Badminton Championship-2016 Concluded

The 8th Force Level Inter Frontier BSF Badminton Championship 2016 concluded at Nehru Indoor Stadium, Polo, Shillong on 15th Sept’ 2016. Shri K. S. Kropha, IAS, Chief Secretary, Govt of Meghalaya was the chief Guest.
The Championship 2016, under aegis of HQ BSF Meghalaya Frontier which started on 12th Sept’ 2016 at Nehru Indoor Stadium, Polo, Shillong witnessed some good badminton game. 53 players from 14 teams of various BSF Frontiers and training institutions have participated during this Championship and displayed their grit, determination, sports spirit and great zeal to during the competition.
The overall Team championship was won by Kashmir Frontier. For Open Single, Shri Ashwani Kumar Singh, Comdt, Mizoram and Cachar Frontier won the match defeating Shri Bibhu Mallik, Dy. Comdt, South Bengal Frontier, for Open Double, championship was won by TC & S Hazaribagh, for 50+ Category (Single) Shri Akhileshwar Singh, DIG, Mizoram and Cachcar Fronteir won the match defeating Shri Vijay Singh, Dy Comdt Gujarat Frontier, for 55+ (Single) Shri V Harinath , Asst.Comdt, Gujarat Frontier won the match defeating Shri V S Kasana, DIG, Jammu Frontier.
After the competition a team will be selected for representing Border Security Force at All India Police Duty Meet (AIPDM), which is being organised at SAI multipurpose Indoor Hall, North East Hills University (NEHU) from 19th to 21st September 2016. Though, weather and climatic condition were a bit different from most of the players who had came from Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Delhi, Bengal, etc. Still players adopted the changes in climate and weather and displayed very competitive games during the Championship. The BSF teams have been performing exceptionally during past All India Police Duty Meet (AIPDM).
The Hon’ble Chief Guest Shri K. S. Kropha, IAS, Chief Secretary, Govt of Meghalaya distributed the prizes to the winners. Speaking on the occasion he said that BSF personnel are drawn from all the States leaving the family behind for this noble cause. It’s a great sacrifice of BSF personnel for national cause.” He appreciated the duties performed by the BSF soldiers, without caring the personal comforts inspite of hardships due to remoteness of the location, extreme climatic conditions and geographical features like thick jungle, rivers, nullahs etc. He complimented the Force for playing a pivotal role and contributing immensely towards all facets of national security. For such a committed Force, sport events are great stress busters & help retrieve pressure. Regardless of victory or defeat, it is important to participate in sports and prove mettle in every opportunity. He also assured that all possible assistance and help will be provided as and when require by Border Security Force and extended his best wishes to all BSF personnel and their families.
Shri P K Dubey, Inspector General, Border Security Force Meghalaya presented with memento to the Officials and thanked all the players and officials for their active participation for making the championship successful.
