Chwona Mein Visits Integrated Farm of Farmer Tana Neka Tara at Sonajuli

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein who himself is an agriculturist out of his intrusiveness toured the 35 square km integrated farm operated by Tana Nekam Tara, a local progressive farmer at Sonajuli under Banderdewa Circle in Papum Pare District on Thursday and 
interacted with him to get first-hand knowledge on integrated farming carried out there.
Mein while appreciating the efforts of Tana Nekam Tara said that the success story of Tara is an inspiration for others especially the unemployed educated youths who should take cue and learn to take up integrated farming system to generate their own income source.
Integrated farming is economically and environmentally rational system to bring both socio-economic changes in the lives as well as it increases the overall farm produces through same resources and supplements the income of families, added Mein saying it is a novel approach that can be applied to any farming system with an innovative ideas and can generate employment.
The DCM also shared his vast knowledge on tea cultivation to the progressive farmer.
Meanwhile, HDCM has assured to hold meeting with concern officer of the Agriculture department to come up with proper strategy to revive the defunct Government Seed Farm at Sonajuli, under Banderdewa circle soon and towards addressing challenges and enhance development.
While sharing his experience, Tara explained about the various projects being embarked upon and highlighted numerous challenges confronting them.
Tara, who, besides growing tea, lemon grass, orange and rubber, incorporated fishery, poultry, goat rearing, bee keeping and piggery. He is providing employment to more than 300 people in his farm. He is now a source of inspiration for all other farmers of the locality.
Earlier, DCM visited and observed the Papumpare Tea Estate, the Eco-Agro tourism huts and also inspected the fish ponds.
