CALSOM Felicitate Meritorious Students of Mishmi Society

The Cultural & Literary Society of Mishmi (CALSOM) conducted a felicitation programme for meritorious students and achievers of the Mishmi Society for their outstanding performance in the CBSE/ AISSCE-2015 at Tamla-Du ground, Tezu on Tuesday.

Hon’ble Minister for Animal Husbandry, Veterinary, Dairy Development, Art & Culture Dr. Mohesh Chai graced the function as Chief Guest and DC Lohit, Danish Ashraf, IAS graced the occasion as Guest of Honour.

The Chief Guest while congratulating the achievers exhorted them to stay focused on their goals to achieve them. He opined that hard work is the key to success. He however lamented that unlike in the past, many youths of the new generation lacks discipline and dedication, which are stumbling blocks to achieve success in one’s lives.

Dr. Mohesh Chai further cautioned the youths to stay away from addiction and refrain from using Un parliamentary language in social networking sites, which is maligning the image of the community. The Minister acknowledged the pivotal role played by the VKVs in shaping the future of the arunachali youths by imparting quality education in the state since the past 3 (three) decades. The Chief Guest further declared that he would award one lakh rupees to those Civil Service aspirants of Mishmi Community, who succeeded in cracking the UPSC main Exam.

The Guest of Honour, Danish Ashraf, IAS lauded CALSOM for organizing a wonderful and meaningful programme in honour of the achievers. He said that the felicitation programme is a noble initiative in encouraging human resource development, which is a pre-requisite for the progress of a society and nation. He advocated for value based education in the state.

Suraj Tayang, Secretary, CALSOM highlighted the aims & objectives of the 6TH Felicitation Programme. “The noble idea of felicitating the achievers was initiated by CALSOM in the year 2010 with the motive to motivate the students to strive for excellence in academics enabling them to build their bright future and ultimately become worthy members of the society”. The Secretary further declared that CALSOM have entered into 25 years of its existence and the apex socio-cultural organization of the Mishmi’s shall celebrate its Silver Jubilee this year.

Sixteen meritorious students were felicitated for excellence in academics and Mr. Bittu Kri and Mr. Rome Mele were honoured for being the topper and 2nd topper in the APPSCE-2016 respectively. The small, yet impressive function was attended by CALSOM executive members, Teaching Staff of CALSOM School, Head of Departments, PRI Members, Officers and Intellectuals of Mishmi Community and Students of VKV Tafragam.
