BSF Apprehended One Cattle Smuggler, seized 282 cattle heads

Troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force apprehended one Indian cattle smuggler, on Wednesday, from the riverine International Boundary (IB) in Dhubri District of Assam, from the river Brahmaputra, and also seized 282 cattle heads.

Cattle smuggler who was identified as Babar Ali, resident of  village Bhasanichar was apprehended by the troops of BOP Bhogdore, on specific information of intelligence team of BSF Dhubri, while he was trying to smuggle cattle heads from India to Bangladesh. 07 cattle heads were recovered from the place of occurrence.

During preliminary questioning he revealed names of his associates and also revealed the name of the actual owner of the cattle as Latif, resident of village  Pattamari, Dhubri, Assam. FIR have been lodged against him and his associates and he has been handed over to local police for further legal action.

FLOODED-DHUBRI

In addition to this, troops of Guwahati frontier seized 282 cattle heads on the night intervening of 10/11 Aug 2016 from their area of responsibility. The troops have seized 2090 cattle heads since 1st Aug 2016. These seizures and apprehensions have been made by the BSF troops in the midst of extreme adversities after the onset of monsoons, since last few months. All the BOPs in the chars have been inundated/flooded with flood waters of the river Brahmaputra and its tributaries and many BOPs and border infrastructure are on the verge of being washed away or have been washed away, due to which though BOPs have been vacated. However, troops are performing round-the-clock duties in watercrafts/launches which have been doubly augmented to check commission of trans-border crimes and there has been no let-up in the domination of the border.
