Assam: World Mental Health Day Celebration at RGU

The Royal School of Nursing (RSN) and Royal School of Medical and Allied Sciences (RSMAS) of the Royal Global University celebrated World Mental Health Day. Dr Jayanta Das, eminent senior consultant psychiatrist who was invited as the guest speaker for the session.

The event was attended by, Prof. (Dr.) S.P Singh, Vice Chancellor, RGU; Prof. (Dr.) A.K Buragohain, Chairperson (Academic); along with students and faculty members of the University.

Dr. Jayanta Das mainly dwelt at length on ‘Suicide Prevention’ and ‘Mental Health’, and that a healthy beautiful mind is the key behind success and that a health body too lives in a healthy mind. There can be various reasons as to why one may be mentally weak and not stable, few of them being stress, lack of sleep, food, change in environment and lifestyle.

Suicidal tendencies too tend to start developing in a weak mind; certain symptoms like behavioral disorder can also become prominent. Hence, instead of neglecting these issues one must come out to talk about it and find cure. If no domestic approach shows responsiveness, the psychiatrist should immediately be contacted.

Prof. (Dr.) A.K Buragohain, also spoke on the need to have healthy mind and that one must not take our mind for granted and take care of it. Mental Disorders can develop anytime and anywhere and most times they are uninvited therefore one must get good sleep eat well and maintain regular exercise to keep one’s mind healthy.
