Arunachal: Student leaders appeal Tapir, Kiren to oppose CAA

This Act is politically in nature to capture the Hindu vote bank

Student Leaders of  Rajiv Gandhi University Student Union ( RGUSU ) and North Easter Regional Institute of Science & Technology ( NERIST ) today appeal the Tapir Gao and Kiren Rijiju to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Act ( CAA ), because it is not in the interest of the indigenous people of state and region.

Addressing the media person here at Arunachal Press Club, Dopum Sonam, President of Rajiv Gandhi University Students Union ( RGUSU ), said that “we are totally disappointed after passing of the Bill into Act which is detrimental for the indigenous people of region. ‘I believe that this Act is politically in nature to capture the Hindu vote bank and is an act of extension of Hindutva ideology’  to create Hindu Rashtra.

Declaring exemption of Arunahal, Nagaland, Mizoram and other parts of region is nothing as ILP is a regulation and it may be abolished at any time , jus like the Article 370 scrapped from  Jammu & Kashmir, he said.

Referring to the violence in other parts of region and country, RGUSU President said that it seems that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah is not leading the country for several developmental work, GDP but their ideology is to rule the country and we are against such act and oppose the CAB-2019.

He further appeal the two MP  Kiren Rijiju and Tapir Gao to come up from such ideology and raise the voice against CAA  which is detrimental to the indigenous community of state and region.

He also appeal the lawmaker and high-up in the state government to look into the future of our state and condemn the CAA in the greater interest of indigenous people of state.

He said that we have submitted a memorandum to the governor on Friday with a single point for repeal of CAA and clear-cut status of chakma-Hajong settled in state, and constitutional protection of all NE state as par with Article 371 A of the constitution.

He said we have carried a massive protest march by sacrificing the examination against CAA on Friday covering  a distance of around 30 kilometer which is a history of state.  Thousands of students who participated in the march have fear that the CAA may badly affect the demography of the state.

He further said that the important scheme launched by Home Minister Bamang Felix “ Hamara Arunachal Abhyan: was supported by one and all but the need of the hour is to save the state from CAB and appeal the Home Minister to change the nomenclature to  “ Arunachal Bachao Abhyan”  and assure that all will provide continuous support to the movement.

RGUSU General Secretary Kumar Rai, Students Union of NERIST President Tadar Mamang also address the press conference and appeal one all to understand the affect of the CAB which is not in the interest of the indigenous community of the state and region.
