Arunachal: Panchayat leaders join BJP en mass in Ziro

With every passing day, BJP is getting stronger in Arunachal. in the latest event 264 panchayat leaders join BJP in a Swagat Samaroh held at Ziro.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu today along with Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and State BJP President Tapir Gao welcomed the joining of panchayat leaders en mass representing Ziro-Hapoli Assembly constituency to the BJP party at a function held here at Dree ground at Nago Putu.

In the ‘Swagat Samaroh’ held, 264 members joined the party that included Lower Subansiri Zilla Parishad Chairperson Hage Kobin, 6 ZPMs, 1 Anchal Chairperson, 11 ASMs from Nichi village, 13 ASMs from Niti village, 4 ASMs from Hija village, 10 ASMs from Tajang village and one ASMs from Hari and Kallung village. The newly joined members also included many retired government officials.

The Chief Minister in his speech said the BJP party is different from family based parties where interest of the country reigns supreme unlike Congress where writ of a family runs large.

The Chief Minister said for the Northeastern states and Arunachal, BJP is the right party because of its high standards of work culture and accountability, adding that the party in power has the will to go extra mile to help the region.

Informing on Prime Minister’s support for Arunachal’s ‘vision 2027’, the Chief Minister said the priority of the centre for Arunachal can be seen from the decision of the fifteenth finance commission to start its state consultations beginning with Arunachal Pradesh, which will begin from April 2018.

Speaking on the Budget 2018, the Chief Minister said the main focus of it is on ‘decentralization’. He said state government wants to empower the role of Deputy Commissioner through district-based societies created for health, education and agriculture sector. He said these societies under DC will be delegated with roles and financial powers so that development matter important to district is decided at these level and not at Itanagar level.

He also said district-planning board will be assigned roles and empowered to have authority to recommend schemes to Itanagar. He said sitting at Itanagar, we can never know what are the needs of the people living in far-flung areas.

Informing on important announcements made in the budget, the CM informed that honorarium for Head Gaon Bura and Gaon Bura has been raised to Rs 2000 and Rs 1500 respectively. He also informed that state government will distribute TV sets for all Gaon Buras that were left out earlier. The Chief Minister said for contingency staff, the state govt has raised their wages by Rs 1000 this year including bonus of Rs 2000.

Reacting to PPA’s remark over state government allotting over Rs 200 crore under untied fund across the state, the Chief Minister asked, “what’s the problem in distributing these funds to all districts?” He said when these funds are yet to be used how can they allege of corruption. Only when the schemes are sanctioned and the works not being up to satisfaction, can they point out misappropriation if any, said Khandu. He said opposition must be very specific when they make allegations on corruption and not raise objections based on their imaginations.

Speaking on development issues of Ziro, the Chief Minister assured to execute long pending demand for a water supply scheme in this financial year under North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS), which is 100% centrally funded to meet critical gap in infrastructure.

On demand for link roads in Ziro Valley, the Chief Minister assured that he will immediately sanction all projects recommended through district board. Also he promised to sanction projects for completion of Dree ground infrastructure this year, which he inaugurated earlier. He further assured that state government will always be supportive in promoting tourism in Ziro valley and promised to take up on priority any such tourism projects.

Rijiju in his speech said we have a Chief Minister today who has a very good vision and working plan for the state. He has brought changes in planning process and is completing all big pending projects in the state. Rijiju appreciated the newly joined members to BJP party for their support to the government.

State BJP President Tapir Gao, Food and Civil Supply Parliamentary Secretary Tage Taki and Transport Parliamentary Secretary Likha Saaya also spoke on the occasion.
