Arunachal- Kiren Rijiju inaugurates Three Bridges

Union Minister  of State for  home affairs Mr Kiren Rijiju,  has inaugurated three bridges namely Sher (35 mtr long), Shikari (40 mtr long ) and Balemu ( 60 mtr long ) located at Km 38.50, Km 37.645 and Km 48.51 respectively on road Orang-Kalkatang-Shergaon-Rupa-Tenga on 14 Apr 2017, in presence of  speaker of Arunachal Pradesh  Tenzing Norbu Thongdok, Dr S S Porwal, Addl Director General Border Roads (East), Brig J S Ishar, Chief Engineer Project Vartak,  Col Pradeep Tiwari, Commander 14 Border Roads Task Force and other officials of Border Roads. The work for these bridges were commenced in the year 2013. Total cost of these bridges is Rs. 1131.41 lakhs. All these three bridges have been constructed departmentally within the given time frame. Officer Commanding  and Officer-In-Charge of these bridges were Lt Col Manish Pathak & AEE (Civ) Hemant Kumar SB Lal of 1441 BCC.

Road O-K-S-R-T is of 158 Km length taking off  from Orang in the state of Assam and joins Balipara-Charduar-Tawang road at Tenga in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. Consequent upon completion of all above three bridges, movement of traffic on OKSRT road will be smooth and safe. By operationalising of OKSRT road the distance between Guwahati and Tenga has been reduced by 35 Km which is a huge relief to the populace of the region. It will improve connectivity of West Kameng and Tawang district and thereby enhance tourism and trade potential of the region.

Brig J S Ishar, Chief Engineer Project Vartak welcomed minister and other dignitaries on the occassion . Minister of State has expressed pleasure in timely construction of these bridges by 1441 BCC of Project Vartak of Border Roads. Minister has appreciated efforts of Border Roads in connecting far flung area and congratulated officers, troops and mazdoor for their hard works and also applauded pace of work of BRO in last two and half years. Minister mentioned that construction of this road will boost socio-economic development of this region.
