Arunachal: Khandu flagged off 30 Mahindra Xylo for APSTS

With an aim to provide better transport facilities to passengers, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu flagged off a fleet of 30 Mahindra Xylo vehicles for Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services (APSTS) on Monday here in Civil Secretariat. Transport Minister Nakap Nalo and  Home Minister Bamang Felix were also present on the occasion.

” In this year’s Budget, we have allocated a good amount to the Transport Department so that more fleets could be inducted and also kept provision for procurement of new buses,’’ Chief Minister Pema Khandu told reporters on the occasion.

There are many more provisions for the development of connectivity sector in state. We are looking forward for better connectivity with all parts of state. Khandu added.

APSTS general manager, Abu Tayeng, who was also present, said, “It’s a seven seater vehicle  instead of 10 so that passengers can go comfortably.’’

Asked about the districts where these vehicles will ply, the GM said, “We will first start in our economical routes.”

“We will be investing a total of Rs 15 core for new vehicles this year. We are thinking of launching luxury segment buses like Volvo ,” he stated.

We have already added several luxury busses in several long distance and profit making route and this fleet of Xylo will add to ferry passengers in several rote of the state and more will be added soon. Tayeng added.

Secretary Transport Dani Salu, Special Secretary to CM Hemansu Gupta, other senior officer of Transport Department and Arunachal Pradesh State Transport services were present during the flagoff ceremony.
