Arunachal: Japanese Encephalitis positive case detected in Lohit
According to sources from Zonal Hospital Tezu, the patient has been undergoing treatment at Aditya Nursing Home Dibrugarh (Assam) and is recovering fast.

In the wake of rising 7 (seven) cases of Japanese encephalitis (JE) in Arunachal, 1 (one) positive case of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) has been detected in Lohit District of Hatiduba village under Sunpura circle.
According to sources from Zonal Hospital Tezu, the patient has been undergoing treatment at Aditya Nursing Home Dibrugarh (Assam) and is recovering fast.
“Nothing to be panic, we have issued health advisory for sensitization and to further spread of the disease. Subsequently after the improvement in weather we will spread DDT and fogging to avoid outbreak of JE”, informs Dr S Chai Pul DMO.
Most of the JE infection manifests simple fever and malaise which can be managed in OPD setting. Only 1% of the infected develop central nervous (brain) complication.
Its immediate symptom is fever, headache, vomiting etc. the villagers should cooperate with the heath dept to allow spread of DDT to wipe out the mosquito-borne disease”, she pleads further.
Meanwhile, the Lohit health department has also launched a massive drive to contain the spread of the disease and instructed officials to take adequate measures, such as intensified fogging and focal insecticide spray, to stop the disease from spreading further.
