Arunachal Governor Visits Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences

The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh  V. Shanmuganathan visited the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences, Naharlagun on Tuesday. State Health and Family Welfare Minister Jomde Kena, Secretary to Governor Talem Tapok, Special Secretary to Governor & Health Prince Dhawan, Director Health Service, Dr. Moji Jini and Mission Director National Health Mission P.N. Thungon along with senior officials of Health and Family Welfare Department along with doctors and nurses of the Institute were present on the occasion.

In his maiden visited to the Institute, the Governor interacted with pregnant women and distributed fruits and served nutritious food to them. He advised the women to take care of their health for smooth and safe delivery. They should regularly check their haemoglobin percentage, get themselves vaccinated and have institutional delivery. The delivery must be followed by timely immunization.

The Governor also advised them not to differentiate between male and female child. He said that instead of gender reservation, they should ensure that the child receives best of the healthcare so that he or she becomes a good and responsible citizen tomorrow.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister for Health and Family Welfare expressed gratitude to the Governor for his visit, which he said will boost the morale of the doctors and nursing staffs. He briefed on the health scenario of the State to the Governor. The State Health Minister informed the pregnant women of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of the scheme to provide financial aid of Rs 6,000 to pregnant women who undergo institutional delivery for hospital admission. The sum is also meant to help with their child’s vaccination, as well as nutritional food.

Interacting with the doctors of the Hospital over a high tea on the occasion, the Governor exhorted them to render their services with sincerity and dedication. He requested them to pay equal attention to widows and destitute, uneducated, poor patients.

The Governor advised the doctors to take care of every patient as God or very important person. Doctors have the opportunity to perform the work of the God. Doctors should understand the pains and problems of the patients. Serve every patient with the true spirit of service, the Governor exhorted.

Later the Governor visited the Cancer Centre in the Institute’s complex and appreciated the efforts of doctors and senior officials.
