Arunachal: Governor meets the Commanding Officers of NCC battalions

The Governor advised the NCC Officers to take up innovative and career-oriented programmes which will be beneficial to the cadets.

The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) met the Commanding Officers of National Cadet Corps (NCC) battalions of the State at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar on 29th August 2019.

The Governor advised the NCC Officers to take up innovative and career-oriented programmes which will be beneficial to the cadets. He suggested sports competitions, musketry training, coaching camps and job orientation programmes for the students. Demonstrated activities which build up public confidence must be conducted. The Rubicon of routine activities, he stressed, should be crossed for achieving better performance of the cadets.

The Governor said the programmes must help in meaningful activities visible to the eyes of the general public and guardians who want to see wards progressing. The Commanding officers must explore ground-breaking ideas, so that the people develop trust and confidence in the men in uniform, he said.

The Governor asked the NCC Commanding Officers to reach out to the parents and encourage the students to join NCC for eventual selection for the Indian Armed Forces. He also asked them to create awareness about recruitment rallies of Armed Forces amongst the people and train the interested candidates to succeed in the recruiting tests.

Col Sanjiv Kumar, Shaurya Chakra, Deputy Commander, NCC Tezpur Group,  Col. Dharmendra Yadav, Commanding Officer, 2 AP Bn, NCC, Tawang, Col RS Shekhawat, Sena Medal (Gallantry) Adm Officer, 2 AP Bn, Tawang and Col. R.K. Sharma, Commanding Officer, 1 AP Bn, NCC, Naharlagun, were present in the meeting. Col. Sharma informed that in Arunachal Pradesh there are two NCC Battalions and one independent NCC Company (Pasighat) with total strength of 8700 cadets.
