Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retd) BD Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday condoled the death of former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley.
“With Jaitley’s demise, the nation has lost a great visionary, statesman, outstanding Parliamentarian, legal luminary, a towering intellectual, and an able administrator, who worked selflessly and relentlessly for the good of the nation,’’ the Governor said in his condolence letter to Sangeeta Jaitley, wife of Arun Jaitley.
He also said that the former Union Minister was a brilliant orator, a man of impeccable integrity and a great supporter of democratic values.
The Governor further said that Jaitley has left an indelible mark as the Finance Minister of the country, placing India as the world’s fastest-growing economy.
“I join the people of Arunachal Pradesh in conveying our sincere and heartfelt condolence to you and members of the bereaved family and pray to Almighty God for eternal peace for the departed soul,” he said.
Expressing grief, the CM in a tweet said, “Deeply pained to hear about sad demise of former Union Minister Arun Jaitley ji. His passing away is a great loss to our country. An eloquent orator, a visionary leader, he had contributed immensely towards building New India. My deepest condolence to his family & loved ones.”
His Cabinet colleague, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein also took to micro-blogging site Twitter to express grief over the demise of former Finance Minister.

Condoling Jaitley’s demise, the Dy CM said, “The untimely demise of a leader of such stature has left the nation stunned. The void thus created by providence shall forever stay unfilled. May the Almighty grant strength to his family members to cope with such a tragedy and peace to the departed soul.”
Arunachal East MP and BJP state president Tapir Gao in a tweet said, “I am indeed deeply saddened by the sad demise of Arun Jaitely ji.He was my colleague, guide & political mentor. In his passing today, India lost one of it’s most luminous sons. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family members & pray for eternal peace of his soul.”

While Congress MLA and former MP, Ninong Ering said, “Deeply saddened to learn about the demise of former FM Shri Arun Jaitley Ji. Heartfelt condolences to family and friends. Rest in peace.”
The former Union Minister passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. He was 66.
He was admitted in AIIMS on August 9 and was being treated by a multidisciplinary team of senior doctors.
