Arunachal: Chowna Mein Accorded Warm Welcome at Wakro

After assuming charge as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state post the last election, Chowna Mein on Thursday paid a visit to Wakro circle. Wakro is one of the two administrative circles of 46-Chowkham assembly constituency which Mein now represents.
Upon arrival he was accorded a rousing reception by the Lohit district administration and public of Wakro circle at the general ground. A meeting was also held where Mein interacted with the people and sought to know their issues and needs. At least four public memorandums were submitted by public leaders while many more were also submitted by individuals.
In his address, Mein said that drastic changes has been witnessed in recent times particularly in road communication. He said the government was committed to bring in more such developments in the near future.
He informed that the present government is doing away with the parachuting of schemes which was on a top down method and mostly involved individual projects but now new policies for planning has been envisaged where it will be processed through a proper channel from the district level committee.

Responding to some of the important points submitted in the memorandums he said that he is aware of those issues and would try to deliver through proper planning and prioritisation.
Regarding the demand for upgradation of Wakro to ADC headquarter, Mein said that he is also interested to upgrade it into a full fledged independent ADC headquarter but infrastructure has to be developed first to facilitate the same.
He appreciated that home stays of Wakro circle are gaining popularity which other places should also emulate.
Earlier the DC Lohit, Prince Dhawan and officers of various departments presented a power point presentation on budget proposals for the fiscal year 2019-20 proposed in DPC in respect of works department of Wakro circle.
Mein also released a video CD on homestays of Wakro circle prepared by DC Lohit and District Tourism Officer.
Upon arrival at Wakro Mein had first inaugurated the office of the Wakro Women Welfare Society office and lauded the members for bringing transformational change in the society. The society was founded in the year 1997.
