Arunachal: CBI files charge sheet in APPSC question paper leak case

The case pertains to the question paper leak of the assistant engineer (civil) exam for 2021, conducted by the APPSC.

ITANAGAR-  The CBI has filed charge sheet against 08 accused persons in a local court here, in the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) conducted an assistant engineer (civil) examination question paper leak case, said a CBI’s press release.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a chargesheet against 08 accused in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Yupia (Arunachal Pradesh) in an ongoing investigation of a case related to alleged leakage of question paper of an examination conducted by Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil).

Arunachal: 4 more arrested in APPSC Fiasco

CBI had registered a case on 26.10.2022 on the request of Govt of Arunachal Pradesh & further notification from Govt of India transferring the investigation of FIR No.- 11/2022 dated 27.09.2022 of SIC (Vig.) Police Station corresponding to Itanagar Police Station Case No. 229 dated 10.09.2022.

The said case was registered against a private person of a Coaching Institute at Itanagar and unknown officials of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) on complaint related to the allegations of leakage of question paper before written examination for recruitment to the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) conducted by APPSC on 26th & 27th August 2022. The Complainant (a Candidate) had alleged that the accused (a teacher of the institute) was in possession of questions for the said examination disclosing leakage of paper by him in connivance with unknown officials of APPSC, the release said.

Arunachal: CBI conducts searches at 16 places in alleged APPSC question paper leak case

Searches were earlier conducted on 03.11.2022 at around 16 different places in Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal & Uttar Pradesh which resulted into recovery of incriminating documents/articles including fake/counterfeit stamps of executive magistrate of Arunachal Pradesh, Executive Engineer, State Bank of India, Hard discs, pen drive etc. Further Investigation is continuing, added in the press release.

More than 400 candidates appeared in the examination held on August 26 and 27 this year.

The SIC had arrested 10 persons including APPSC’s deputy secretary cum controller of examination Taket Jerang.

APPSC chairman Nipo Nabam had on October 14 resigned on moral grounds.

The state government had also ordered probe of all exams conducted by the APPSC since 2014 by the SIC (Vigilance).

The SIC so far had arrested 32 people in various cases.

“The arrests were made following detailed interrogation and technical and financial analysis of the suspects. The SIC’s investigation into the paper leak matter is ongoing and all facts are being investigated in detail. All legal formalities and norms of professionalism are being maintained during the investigation,” SIC SP Anant Mittal said, adding that the SIC is committed to ensuring justice for the aggrieved candidates of various exams.
