Arunachal: Architect of Itanagar Nabam Runghi passes away

Founder of Arunachal Pradesh capital Itanagar  Mr. Nabam Runghi who was one of the first agency councillor  passes away .

Founder of state capital Itanagar despite being illiterate was Mr. Nabam Runghi who was one of the first agency councillor and popularly known as architect of Itanagar,  passes away. He took his last breathe on 18.11.18 at around 9pm.

Most important thing is that despite the founder of state capital, he didn’t own even an inch of land in capital complex. Originally from Leporiang areas under Sagalee, he moved to Tarasso later where he donated even his paddy field for cricket ground in 2015.

HIS SOCIAL WORK

1 In 1966 He tour, Ambala, Mussoorie, Dehradun, kerala,Tamil Nadu, Utter Pradesh, Sikkim and Darjeeling, He also attends Republic day parade at new Delhi,
2 In1967 He selected to Haflong as part of home guard training and selected him as group leader.
4 In 1968  He was appointed as gram member, (GPM and later he elevated to Anchal Smiti member (ASM) and again he elevated Zila Parishad member (ZPM).
5 During his leadership there were many potter track road has been lay out in sagalee area ,and setup many schools,
6. In 1969  He was elected as agency council Member. From subansiri District.
7 The council held four sessions in the tenure, the first session 3rd December 1969 b)second session 10th to 11th 1970.c) tired session 6th to 7th 1971.d)fourth session 12th to 13th 1971
8 During agency council session he proposed,

a result of NEFA Headquarter should be declared soon.(b).he also proposed NEFA Headquarter should be at least 50 miles inside NEFA,

9 3rd December 1969  In  inaugural session of the NEFA agency council session a action taken committee constitute for Recommendation Mr Nabam Runghi were committee for sit selection of NEFA Headquarter under the chairman ship of Development Commissioner of NEFA,
10  Mr. Nabam Runghi, carry Ita (bricks) and fish of lake to Shillong as an evidence, soon after that Runghi handed over  the bricks  and roasted fish to panchyat Director ,
11 0n 28th feb1972  Former Prime Minister of India Late. Indira Gandhi arrived and declared and announced officially Itanagar as the Capital of Arunachal Pradesh,

HIS RELIGIOUS CONTRIBUTION

1 In 1970  Jagir Singh, Extra Assistant Commission (EAC) Sagalee area they suggested Mr Nabam Runghi tried to stop Christianity from Sagalee area otherwise a series of lawless acts will be occur..
2 On 24th feb 1971 Jagir Singh ordered the Christians of Sagalee area to surrender all their Bibles to his on pain of Punishment. But Runghi didn’t surrender.
3 In 1972 He takes Baptized at Karoi Baptish Church by  Taying Baat Evangelists. He established 54 noses of churches were he dedicated.
4 In 1974 to 1977 He becomes a President of Subansari Baptist Christian Association.
5 On24/4/1974  The groups of non-Christian people were burned down Bobia Baptist Church and Mr Nabam Runghi house were destroyed and many more houses were burned and destroyed all the properties and injures many villagers.
6 On 2.5.1974 Mr Nabam Runghi attends the 37th Annual Session of the North East India Christian council at Tezpur they informed. Regarding the issue of Anti- Christian Persecution and loss of properties and injures people of Arunachal Pradesh
7 On 17th .5.1974 Mr Nabam Runghi Submitted detail report to the president North East India Christian Council at Shillong, Meghalaya regarding Anti-Christian persecution of Arunachal Pradesh.

In 1974 Runghi along with Neleam Taram Sab went to Delhi and meeting with former Prime Minister Lt. Indira Gandhi at his office resident New Delhi regarding Detail Complain report against Anti-Christian Persecution at State of Arunachal Pradesh.
9 On 5th MAY 1975 Mr Nabam Runghi On behalf of Nyshi Christian may submitted the Chief Commissioner Arunachal Pradesh may regarding the Reconciliation meeting between Christian Nyishis and other Nyishi on May 6th1975 at Doimukh. Copy to Prime Minister of India, Home Minister of India, Home Minister of State new Delhi, President, AICC, Pof. A.K Kisku MP, Chief Secretary Arunachal Pradesh, Counsellor Tadar Tang ,Deputy commissioner Lakhimpur, president AICC, secretary NCCI, Executive secretary EFI.,
10 One day Mr K.A.A. Raja and Tadar Tang called Rungkhi  Mr. K.A.A. Raja said to Rungkhi, offer some items they are:- (i). I will give you free off cost, vehicle for you to using business purpose i.e. one Track, one buses, (ii). Anther some personal Purpose i.e. one jeep, (iii). For more than thousand hectors Land allowed to you free off coast. (iv).Along with allowed government Bungalow. Rungkhi a regarding surrender of Christian in Arunachal. But Rungkhi oppose that entire offer items, how I can Surrender Christian  never  entire State have influence in Christian, how I am single person can have a surrender and  signature against Christian

HIS RECOGNITION

On 22nd April 2005:- The Nyishi Elite Society (NES) has felicitated to Nabam Runghi in recognition of his contribution for Establishment of State Capital Itanagar, as First Agency Council Member of NEFA and his service rendered towards Society  during Nyishi Elite Society 7th General Conference held at sagalee, Papum Pare District.

On January 2008:-The Capital Complex Resident of Leporiang Welfare Committee (CCRLWC) has felicitated to Nabam Runghi in recognition of The Prominent Social Worker..

On 29th june 2013: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki Govt.  Of Arunachal Pradesh has felicitated to  Nabam Runghi in recognition to his contribution for establishment of State Capital Itanagar at Jubilee Hall Dera Natung Government Collage Itanagar.

3rd October 2014:- The Nyishi Baptist Church Council Mission Department (NBCCMD) has felicitated to Nabam Runghi in recognition of Pioneer of Christian and Former President of Subansiri Baptist Church Association (SBCA)  at Pistana Baptist Church.

20th February 2016:-  The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has felicitated to Shri Nabam Runghi in recognition of his contribution to the State as Member of the First Agency Council Member NEFA and his service rendered towards pioneering the delivery of democratic Governance through the Panchayati Raj in the State Of Arunachal Pradesh on the occasion of the 30th Statehood Day at Rajiv Gandhi University Rono, Doimukh.

12th may 2016:- Chief Minister Late. Kaliko Pul Govt.  Of Arunachal Pradesh has Honored to  Nabam Runghi by handing over one Bolero SUV Car and Cash Rs. 2 Lakhs, in recognition of  his contribution for Establishment of State Capital Itanagar and as First Agency Council Member of NEFA at Eco Tourism Jote.

29th September 2016:-  The Nabam Welfare Society (NWS) has to felicitated to Nabam Runghi in recognition of being First Agency Council Member NEFA at Nikum Niya Hall Nirjuli.

20th February 2017:- The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has felicitated Gold Medal to Nabam Runghi in recognition of First Agency Council Member NEFA and Founder of State Capital Itanagar on occasion of 31st Statehood at I.G Park itanagar.

9th February 2018:-  The Arunachal Christian Forum (ACF) has felicitated to Nabam Runghi in recognition of being Pioneer of Christian at CRC Papu Nallah, Naharlagun.

Administrative Officers Govt. Of Arunachal Pradesh before their transfer or posting, officially Appreciation Certificate was given to Nabam Runghi for his goodness sincerity Service towards Society & Govt. and also for being well knowledge & for good decision.

16 November 2018:   Nyishi Baptish church council Department of woman Affairs (NBCCDWA) Honoured to Nabam Rungkhi for being a former president of SBCA and pioneer of Christian at modern village Naharlagun
