Arunachal: 19 houses gutted in devastating fire mishap in Upper Siang

The fire broke out from the house of one, Along Libang, while drying millet over the fire and soon spread to adjacent structures, SP Informed.

Atleast 19 houses were completely gutted down in a devastating fire on Friday morning in Millang village in Mariyang circle of Upper Siang district, Dr Neelam Nega, SP, Upper Siang informed to Arunachal24.

The  fire broke out from the house of one, Along Libang, while drying millet over the fire and soon spread to adjacent structures, SP Informed. The fire mishap has gutted several dwelling housed and all its belongings and turned the family homeless.

SP informed that ” an information was received at round 9.30 this morning from a officer that a fire broke out in Mariyiang circle which is located at around 50 Kilometer and the fire accident site is located another 8 Kilometer from Mariyang.

On receipt of information the team of fire fighters immediately proceeded towards the village but unfortunately the fire tender could not reach to the village as the entrance road leading to the village is too narrow and in very bad shape, ‘ However no casualties were reported from the incident SP, said.

The fire has broke out at around 8 20 AM and continued till 10.30 until it was completely doused by the locals and the police personnel’s from Mariyang outpost also helped in dousing the fire from spreading into the locality.

SP alongwith other officer visited the site and console the victims and appeal the people to construct the dwelling houses giving proper space for the emergency vehicle so that in future during the emergency the person from emergency services could reach the place. However he also assured the locals to forward their proposal to process for provision of a fire tender and establishment of a fire station for the circle to the higher authority.

Unfortunately, fire tender couldn’t do its action as the road leading to this village is very narrow and in very bad condition, thus making the entry of fire tender impossible. SP said.

He further said that DC Upper Siang, Tapir Pada has disburse an immediate relief of Rs 5000 each to the victims. SP further added.
