Army Organises Mega Ex Servicemen Rally at Balipara

A Mega Ex-Servicemen Rally in coordination with the Assam State Administration and Rajya Sainik Boards was organized by Blazing Sword Division under the aegis of Gajraj Corps on Sunday.  The focus of the  rally was to resolve anomalies in disbursement of pension, land and legal cases being faced by Veterans, War Widows and other Veer Naris.

Representative of ECHS, District Sainik Welfare Board, State Bank of India, Ex-Servicemen Cell of Station Headquarters Tezpur, Jaipur Foot Association, District Collector Office, Soldier Board, Assam Regt Record Cell and Superintendent of Police Office were also present at the venue to address the grievances of the Ex-Servicemen and extend help.  Veterans were apprised of resettlement schemes, second employment avenues & assistance of re-employment facilitated by Army Welfare Placement Organization (AWPO).

General Officer Commanding Blazing Sword Division, in his address to those present,  recalled invaluable services  rendered by the Ex-Servicemen and supreme sacrifice made by the martyrs in service of the nation.  He apprised the ex-pensioners and others of the efforts of Adjutant General Branch of Army in regard to various welfare schemes for veterans and their dependents.

The event was also graced by Commander 106 Infantry Brigade, Sri Manoj Kumar Dekha,  DC, Sonitpur and Lt Col S Kaushik, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), Regional Centre, Guwahati and Mr Bikash Choudhary, AGM, CPPC, Guwahati.  The rally was attended by over 1400 Ex-Servicemen, dependents and Veer Naris hailing from Sonitpur and Bishwanath Charali Districts of Assam.

The rally was a major step forward in ameliorating day to day problems of the veterans and Veer Naris.  It gave a platform to the War Widows to express their concerns directly to the concerned officials.  The event was a great success and immensely benefited the Ex-Servicemen fraternity at large.
