All districts have required infrastructure for GST- Khandu

Chief Commissioner of Central Excise, North East Region S K Panda called on chief minister Pema Khandu for a breakfast meeting at the later’s private residence this morning.

Khandu informed the Chief Commissioner that Arunachal Pradesh Goods and Services Tax Bill 2017 has recently been approved by the State Cabinet to be tabled in the ensuing Special Session of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly scheduled on May 12 next for ratification.

Saying that consuming states like Arunachal Pradesh would benefit with this landmark tax regime, Khandu revealed that almost all the district headquarters in the state have the required infrastructure in place to embrace GST. “Work on optical fibre laying is undertaken on war footing to connect far flung rural populace so that the IT connectivity and the benefits coupled with it is reaped by each and every citizen of the state” Khandu informed.

GST will be simple and easy to administer, better control on leakages with robust IT infrastructure, higher revenue efficiency, relief in overall tax burden and with destination based tax it will also greatly help in removing economic distortions and will help in development of a common national market, Khandu further added.

Agreeing the fact and positive impact of GST, Panda who is here as the main resource person for the GST workshop for MLAs, Officers and DCs at Banquet Hall, advocated for rigorous campaign and awareness on Goods and Services Tax. “Proper know how about GST is essential to achieve the desired goal of implementing GST in the country”, the chief commissioner emphatically said. He called for a unison approach towards making the GST a grand success, which would eventually multiply the economy of the state as well as the country.
