In a yet another fire incident in Ziro, at least five people were charred to death after a massive fire broke out at Kudung Bra Village in Old Ziro at around 6 PM on Tuesday.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and the dead are yet to be identified as their bodies have been charred beyond recognition.
Deputy Commissioner Kemo Lollen informed that the Indian Air Force fire tenders stationed at the Advanced Landing Ground were pressed into service to douse out the ravaging fire. However, the fire could not be contained on time to save the five lives.
The District Administration also engaged rescue operation teams and relief team soon after the fire broke out.
The Ziro Police station sources said that three fire tenders stationed at Ziro were also pressed into service and efforts put in by all source have also stopped the fire in spreading to other area. The burned body have been taken away to the Gyati Taka General Hospital morgue for further verification and identification, the sources added.

The reliable sources from Ziro reveal that there were around fifteen kucha houses where the labour community were residing.
SP Ziro, B Kamduk, EAC Hage Tarung, OC Phasang Simi were seen supervising the relief and rescue operation at the site.
