Two OB type houses were totally destroyed by a devastating fire in ESS sector, here in Itanagar on Saturday afternoon leaving seven members of each house roofless.
Home &Education Parliamentary Secretary Pani Taram, while observing from his office in higher & technical education directorate near Civil Secretariat, suspected the fire could be near his official residence and rushed to the spot.
Though a fire tender with seven fire fighters had rushed to the spot after the fire broke out at 3.35pm, but traffic congestion caused so much delayed that the house with all belongings were totally gutted by the time it reached the spot.
Taram while inspecting fire fighting operations, proved to the right recipient of national ‘Adarsh Yuva Vidayak’ Award’, called the owners – Tali ASM Gichik Taru and PHE&WS labourer Hichik Tayup – consoled them, gave them Rs 25,000 each as immediate relief and assured the GoAP relied would follow.
The lawmaker also spoke to Capital Complex DC Prince Dhawan and directed him to grant immediate relief to the victims soon.
APCC president Takam Sanjoy, on learning about the fire incident, told this daily that he has also requested the DC to grant relief to the victims immediately.
