Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) scam: SIC arrested PWD JE

The special investigation Cell (SIC) arrested Kabak Bath, a junior engineer of the PWD( Highway ) , in connection with the multi-crore Trans-Arunachal Highway scam, informed SIC SP M Harsha Vardhan.

Talking to Arunachal24,  SIC SP informed that “Bath was arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into the scam involved in the disbursement of compensation for the construction of the 157.7-km Bopi-Potin road of Arunachal Pradesh.

The arrest was made after the investigation of the money trail pointed to the role of Kabak Bath in the case. Bath was arrested at the Itanagar police station after he was questioned about the money trail and he could not give answers.

Kabak Bath was arrested in connection with FIR No 2/19 of the SIC police station case, under Sections 409, 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC, read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

“The arrest was made after the investigation of the money trail pointed to the role of the JE in the case,” the SP said.

The multi-crore TAH scam is considered to be the one of biggest scams in Arunachal Pradesh.
“The total compensation amount is Rs 188 crore. We are still ascertaining how much of it went to fake beneficiaries. It is likely to be around Rs 50-60 crore,” the SP said.

SP said that construction is not in the preview of the investigation agency, This case is in connection with the land compensation disbursement activities and irregularities and complaint of malpractice was there and we are investigating and on merit we are taking action.

‘There are two cases registered on TAH one of TAH from Potin to Bopi while other case is of Joram-Koloraing segment where three person were arrested earlier which include former Deputy Commissioner, District Land Revenue and Settlement Officer (DLRSO) and a private individual was arrested’. He said.

The investigation is a voluminous and there are several documents and we are going into the dept and time taking and investigation is in right direction. SP added.

      Good job SIC Team, but it would have been best if all the officials ( DC’s, DLRSO, ADC ) n associates, whom everyone knows indulged in huge discrepancies in compensation in tune of crores, are put behind bars, like in TAH W/Siang…else.
      Catching only infamous JEs is not sufficient. Modi Govt. is behind you please go ahead SIC..
