Minister for Urban Development, Land Management, Law and Justice and local MLA Doimukh Assembly Constituency Nabam Rebia today inspected the Tourist Resort building, Children park, at Hollongi and Tourist information centre at Doimukh and found most of the Tourism Projects are lying abandoned .
Rebia thoroughly inspected the Tourist Resort building laying in dilapidated condition and abandoned for years together which was constructed way back in 2006-07. While expressing displeasure over wastage of public property in such a manner.
He was astonished to see the children park at Hollongi which have not been utilised for the purposed it have been constructed.
Rebia said that it is very sad to see the such important assets is laying unused and inattentive by the department and it should have been used for which purpose it is created.
He directed the District Tourism Officer Papum Pare to immediately start the renovation work from first week of July 2017 and to bring the building into total utility.
DTO Tater Mize apprised that Tourist Resort building had not been formally handed over to tourism department till date by executing agency RWD department and the matter have been brought to the knowledge of the authority.
Rebia surprised to see that the Tourist Information centre located near the Dikrong river bridge at Doimukh is occupied by private party.
He directed the DTO to immediately vacate and renovate it along with the welcome gate located there on Doimukh-Seppa tourist circuit and work the possibilities to make the Tourism Information Centre functional.
While talking to arunachal24 Minister Nabam Rebia said that it is surprise to know that the Tourism department is not maintaining their project in the greater interest of the public service and for promotion of Tourism sector in the district. He said that Airport is coming up in the area and Tourism Department need to take the imitative of these project which would be much helpful in matter to promotion of Tourism in district in particular.
When asked why these projects are kept in abandoned, Rebia said that few projects have not been handed over by the executive agency at the earliest.
Meanwhile DTO Tourism when asked why mostly project of the district is not functional and not being used for the purposed for which it was built, Meze said that out of total 30 tourism project mostly are non functional and few are abandoned while few have not been handed over to the department and few are still under construction period due to non maintenance and fund release problem. Some project are under construction for many years and need to be completed and department would takeover these project for promotion of tourism sector.
It is to mentioned that few important tourism project in the district are still to be properly used for revenue generation like Destination development of Gaera Lake at Tarasso at an estimated cost of 361.73 lakh in the year 2005, Development of Tourism Resort at Hollongi at an estimate of 155.62 lakh in year 2006, Tourist Information Centre and welcome gate at Doimukh at an estimate of 94.28 lakh in 2009, Development of Tourist Resort at Hollongi Patila at an estimate of 386.25 lakh in 2010 onwards, Tourist Resort cum amusement park at Karmajuli (Karsingsa) at an estimate of 433.38 in 2013 onwards, Development of Bodum Langne (snake stone) Trekking trail at an estimate of 384.89 in 2013 onwards and few other projects in Sagalee are the clear example of wastage of cores of money from government exchequers in want of utility for promotion and development of tourism.
Meanwhile Arunachal Pradesh Tour Operator Association (APTOA) President John Panye while said that many ascots which have been created by the Toursim Department have been taken up without taking confidence of the local leaders and District Tourism Promotion Society while selecting the site and have been done centrally right from planning to execution label, if all these are taken into consideration in all respect all these project will revenue otherwise it may be abandoned as like many projects in Papum Pare district.
