Pasighat- Yaad Karo Qurbani Observed

yad-karo-qurbaniUnder the initiative of Prime Minister Narendar Modi, the Yaad Karon Qurbani programme was observed at Yagrung village near Pasighat, East Siang District on the occasion of 70th Year of Indian Independence with the visit of Shri Babul Supriyo, Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises to pay obeisance to the birth place of Late Matmur Jamoh, the freedom fighter   who was born in Yargrung village. The event was organised under the aegis of Adi Baane Kebang (ABK).  The  minister undertook the Tiranga Yatra carrying the national flag on a motor cycle from Pasighat   to Yagrung with members of Royal Siang Riders Bullet Club of Pasighat and other  riders who took part in the Tiranga Yatra. There were more than 200 hundred riders comprising of general public who voluntarily took part in the event honouring late Matmur Jamoh.

Itanagar – Rally against Poor Road Condition

Hundreds of student of Rajiv Gandhi University took out a procession in protest against the poor road condition and drainage system. In the procession students were carried  placards reading “We want better roads”. Students demanded the State Govt. to construct and repair roads, maintain drainage system and install street lamps along the RGU road. Students has grievances that the RGU being the lone university of the state deserves proper infrastructure and road was one of the immediate concern. Students warned that they would continue the agitation until its demands were fulfilled. Students Leaders present on the procession appealed to the students to prepare themselves for agitation for a rightful cause.

Bomdila-marchBomdila- Silent Rally

Expressing solidarity and in honour of martyr Bomto Kamdak, Dy SP Seppa who laid down his life at the tender age of thirty one in the line of duty, hundreds of people from all walks of life turned up at Buddha stadium, Bomdila for the silent rally adorning black badges and holding placards decrying the barbaric act and urging for rightful justice. Silently mourning the premature death of Lt. Bomto Kamdak, the procession started from Buddha stadium and culminated at Buddha Peace Park. Rich floral tribute was paid to the departed soul and Khadas offered. Coordinating the peaceful rally organized by the Mopin Solung Celebration Committee (MSCC) Bomdila, Er. O Tatak highlighted the purpose of the rally and the protest meeting.Speakers from different community based organizations consisting of Monpa, Shertukpen, West Kameng Indigenous People’s Society, Nyishi Elite Society, Bomdila unit; Miji (Sajolang), Aka (Hrusso) and Apatani societies and some public leaders vehemently condemned the brutal killing and opined that a criminal belongs to no family and society. A criminal is a criminal and the most stringent punishment should be given as a deterrent for others, they said. 

Pasighat- Deworming Drive

Along with rest of the nation, East Siang District launched deworming  drive. While administering the children with Albendazole tablets, Deputy Commissioner Khosla said that worm free children are healthy children adding that parents must bring their children to avail free of cost Albendazole deworming tablets to eradicate worm diseases from the nation. All government and private schools and AWCs of East Siang District have been targeted to cover and approximately more than 25,000 (aged 1-19) children will be dewormed, Khosla said. The NDD will be followed by Mop up day on 23rd August in which missed children will be administered Albendazole tablets as per the age of children. She gave some healthy tips to the students. DMO Dr. M. Perme in his brief speech said that worm infections can cause anemia, malnourishment, impaired mental and physical development; and may cause a serious threat to children’s health and education. He asked DRCHO Dr. Gao to implement in letter and spirit.
